Fox held separate pre-Iowa town halls for DeSantis and Haley, but at 6 p.m. before prime time. Frustration boiled over when DeSantis' campaign manager, James Uthmeier, felt that a Fox graphic didn't show the extent of the candidate's appearances in Iowa. Asked by Ainsley Earhardt if she would withdraw if she lost New Hampshire, Haley said she would not. “I don't care how much y'all want to coronate Donald Trump,” Haley said. “I don't need any advice from RINO Kayleigh McEnany on Fox,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, referencing the conservative slur Republican in Name Only.

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade asked Haley if she was “involved in a racist party.”Haley responded, “We’re not a racist country, Brian. “I understand that you don’t think America is a racist country now but … do you really think as a historical matter America has never been a racist country?” Tapper asked. But Mr. DeSantis lashed out last week, accusing Fox News of bias toward his rival, former President Donald J. Trump. For former President Donald Trump, all political signs point to a rematch with President Joe Biden, who defeated Trump in 2020 and increasingly has targeted Trump in his campaign ads. "They were interviewing [Orban] two weeks ago, and they said: 'What would you advise President Obama? He should immediately resign and they should replace him with President Trump, who kept the world safe,'" Trump said, implying that his predecessor was still in office. But not all Republicans want to see Jordan as speaker, second in line to the presidency. Overwhelmed and exhausted, anxious GOP lawmakers worry their House majority is being frittered away to countless rounds of infighting over rules, personalities and direction of the GOP. Handfuls of Republicans announced they were sticking with Jordan, McCarthy or someone other than Scalise — including Trump. The position as House speaker does not need to go to a member of Congress. Exasperated Democrats, who have been waiting for the Republican majority to recover from McCarthy’s ouster, urged them to figure it out.

He was not prepared, and Israel was not prepared,” Trump told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade in an interview clip that aired Wednesday night. Regarding Hezbollah, which the US and its allies have warned against escalating the current conflict, Trump said, “They’re vicious, and they’re smart. But it’s driven by animosity Trump has held for Netanyahu ever since the prime minister publicly acknowledged that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. “If the election wasn’t rigged, there would be nobody even thinking about going into Israel,” the former president told his supporters. NEW YORK (AP) — The curvy couch is making room for one more: Lawrence Jones will join the daily “Fox & Friends” morning show as a fourth host beginning on Monday. Fox News said Thursday that Jones will join Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade on the morning news and talk show, which airs from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Eastern. Jones is losing the Saturday evening show he has hosted, making room for a new show with talk host Mark Levin. Jones, 30, has been with Fox News since 2018 and said “Fox & Friends” is where he made his first national television appearance. “It is truly a privilege to inform our audience every day and I can't wait to do so each morning,” he said.

Fox News personalities are chomping at the bit for Donald Trump to participate in their GOP debate. Several Fox News anchors are practically begging former President Donald Trump to attend their GOP presidential debate on August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The Washington Post reported. "When you have a big lead, you don't do it," Trump told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo last week. When the network hosted a GOP debate in August 2015 (wherein Trump famously sparred with Megyn Kelly), the network drew in 24 million views, the Post reported. When Trump pulled out of another Fox debate months later, the network logged about half as many views.

In March, as Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida laid the groundwork for his presidential run, he joined the Fox News host Brian Kilmeade to play a nationally televised game of catch on his hometown baseball field outside Tampa. The questions Mr. DeSantis faced were as relaxed as the tosses. “Locker room gets you ready for the press, right?” Mr. Kilmeade asked. Four months later, with Mr. DeSantis’s campaign having failed to immediately catch fire against Mr. Trump, Fox News is not taking it quite so easy on Mr. DeSantis anymore.

New York CNN —Fox News on Wednesday acknowledged that an onscreen banner calling President Joe Biden a “wannabe dictator” was inappropriate and said it had taken steps to address the situation internally. “The chyron was taken down immediately and was addressed,” a Fox News spokesperson told CNN in a statement. “WANNABE DICTATOR SPEAKS AT THE WHITE HOUSE AFTER HAVING HIS POLITICAL RIVAL ARRESTED,” the onscreen text read. Biden and his White House have repeatedly stressed that he does not involve himself in Justice Department investigations and have said that the DOJ works independently of the White House’s influence. But Fox is fighting another defamation case from Smartmatic, another voting technology company, which is seeking a staggering $2.7 billion in damages.

Marco Rubio said lawmakers should avoid looking like they are going after companies for "political purposes." Disney has sued Florida Republican Gov. Fox host Brian Kilmeade asked Rubio about comments by some Republicans, who criticized DeSantis for targeting the company. Disney sued DeSantis, who is widely expected to run for president, on Wednesday, saying that the governor was trying to "weaponize government power" by targeting the company. But when it comes to Disney, Rubio said he doesn't think the company is going to leave Florida.
Tucker Carlson was hardly mentioned by his former fellow Fox News hosts after he was fired Monday. Sean Hannity only mentioned Carlson to say "We're not talking about him" and that he had no details. NEW YORK (AP) — The day he was fired, Tucker Carlson was nearly invisible on the Fox News prime-time lineup that he used to dominate. "We're not talking about Tucker," Hannity said, unprompted. Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham appeared close in November 2020.
When Carlson hosted on April 17, he averaged 3.2 million total viewers and 445,000 in the key demo. On April 10, Carlson averaged 3.1 million total viewers and 438,000 in the key demo. And on April 3, Carlson averaged 3.2 million total viewers and 435,000 in the key demo. Carlson’s ratings dominance was why he had that 8pm perch. The numbers suggest that some of Carlson’s audience migrated over to Newsmax to sample the competitor’s showing.
CNN —Fox News had plenty of reasons to get rid of Tucker Carlson. CNN’s Allison Morrow notes that Fox will need a Carlson upgrade of some kind because upstart conservative networks want into the same space. Fox News host Brian Kilmeade praised Trump for having a "very disciplined message." "Since he went and visited East Palestine, stopped having lunch with white supremacists, and has got a very disciplined message," Kilmeade said. He attributed that, in part, to Trump not "having lunch with white supremacists" and visiting East Palestine, Ohio, after a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in the town last month. The reference to "white supremacists" is likely a nod to Trump's November meeting at his Mar-a-Lago resort with notorious white supremacist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and the rapper Kanye West, who now goes by Ye. "This is the most disciplined I've ever seen him," Kilmeade said of Trump, "even compared to 2016."
Lindsey Graham says there aren't any classified documents at his home, just "Chick-fil-A bags all over the floor." The only thing I think you'll find at my house is a bunch of Chick-fil-A bags on the floor," Graham said during a news conference. Classified documents have been found at the homes of President Joe Biden, former Vice President Mike Pence, and former President Donald Trump. The spokesman added that Graham was "joking about the bags" — but just "a bit" — and sent several links documenting occasions where Graham was seen eating Chick-fil-A. In a tweet on July 14, 2021, Graham called the anti-Chick-fil-A protests at Notre Dame a "dangerous precedent."
Brian Kilmeade called the GOP holdouts blocking Kevin McCarthy from being speaker "insurrectionists." The "FOX & Friends" host immediately walked the comment back, going for "saboteurs" instead. The people that don't wanna vote for Kevin McCarthy." At least Kevin McCarthy agreed to some things, and didn't agree to other things." The "Fox & Friends" host did not single out by name the congresspeople he thought were "insurrectionists."
The hotly contested Georgia Senate race will head to a runoff between Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican former NFL player Herschel Walker, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said. The Georgia race, one of the most competitive in the country, could help to determine control of the Senate, along with remaining races in Arizona and Nevada. The presence of Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver, a 37-year-old Atlanta businessman, helped to deny Warnock and Walker the majority they needed to win outright. With 96% of the vote counted Wednesday, Warnock had won 49.2% of the vote to Walker's 48.7%, according to NBC News. In 2020, when Warnock was challenging then-incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, another Republican in the race, Doug Collins won 20% of the vote, sending Loeffler and Warnock to a January runoff that Warnock won.
Trump said it would be "very disloyal" if Pence and ex-Cabinet members ran against him in 2024. Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, and Nikki Haley are thought to be considering their own 2024 bids. Vice President Mike Pence and other former members of the Trump administration have also been highlighted as potential challengers. Pence, Pompeo, and Haley are believed to be pondering 2024 campaigns. Larry Hogan, who has been a vocal critic of Trump, is also thought to be a potential 2024 opponent.
